A ‘newer’ city neighborhood, Como Park is the place for people who want the serenity of the suburbs without the drive. The neighborhood surrounds a huge regional park that includes Como Zoo, Como Town (a small midway), picnic grounds, ballfields, a public golf course, and a Victorian Conservatory with Japanese gardens in addition to the beautiful Lake Como with its classic Pavillion housing many concerts in the warmer months. A true suburb in the city! Como Park, on the west side of the park is the older section of the neighborhood and filled primarily with 1930′s Tudor and 1910-1920 Craftsman homes. West and south of the lake is home to 1915 to 1935 houses, while the east side of the Lake was developed during the postwar years into the 1950′s.
